Honolulu, Hawai’i – Hawai’i State Legislators Senators Laura Thielen and Rosalyn Baker and Representatives Lauren Matsumoto and Della Au Belatti will be members of a panel to discuss “Advancing Women in Politics.”

This lunch plenary will focus on the different paths to political involvement, how to spark political interest in young women, and how women in leadership roles can craft gender responsive public policy.

Each legislator, who also serves as a co-convener for the Hawai’i Women’s Legislative Caucus, will speak to their own experience as a leader and politician for about 10-12 minutes, then take questions from the audience.

The Hawai’i State Commission on the Status of Women is hosting the National Association of Commissions for Women (NACW) 46th Annual Empowerment Summit and Conference July 16-21.

The mission of the NACW is to sustain, strengthen and advocate for women’s commissions in their work to promote equality and justice for all women and girls and ensure they are represented and empowered in their communities.

The Hawai’i State Commission on Status of Women (HSCSW) works toward equality for women and girls in the State by acting as a catalyst for positive change through advocacy, education, collaboration and program development.
