Ron Kouchi, an 11-term veteran of the Kaua'i County Council, is seeking the Kaua'i-Ni'ihau seat in the State Senate.
Ron has his roots on Kaua'i's Westside, where he graduated from Waimea High School before attending Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa.
Ron and his wife, the former Joy Tanimoto, have two sons, Dan and Egan, both in college.
In addition to his long career as an elected official, he is a former director of the Kaua'i Visitors Bureau and served on the Legislative Committee of the Kaua'i Chamber of Commerce. He has served on the Kaua'i Veterans Memorial Hospital board, was chairman of the Capital Campaign for Wilcox Health Foundation and was a member of the YMCA Board of Directors.
Ron been a member of Kapaa Missionary Church since 2002. He has also served in many capacities in community sports, including the Kaua'i High School Baseball Booster Club, Lihue Baseball League and West Kaua'i Midget Baseball League. During the mid-80s, he was Head Coach of the Waimea High School Girl's Volleyball program.
